  The religion of Islam has come from an obscure, ancient Arabian peninsula of the seventh century to what is called by some; the second largest religion in the world. Islam has gained this status by means of a doctrine in Islam called, Jihad. The question we in the western world need to ask ourselves is: what is the true meaning of Jihad? Not only the general community of the west, but more importantly, what our government agencies need to understand about the true meaning of Jihad, and the threat it poses to the existence of western civilization and the world. I must say at the onset that there are those precious Muslims who for reasons of embarrassment, deception, or ignorance have giving a novel interpretation to the word, Jihad. For example, when some of these Muslims are asked about the violent acts committed by there brethren in the name of Jihad, they begin to deny that Islam teaches such violence, and that those who perpetrate violent acts in the name of Islam are not true Muslims. This is a serious charge to say that theses are not true Muslims, because these same Muslims themselves who perform acts of violence and murder in the name of Jihad certainly consider themselves “true” Muslims. Some have even said that the alleged hijackers of September 11, 2001 did not represent Islam, and that in the name of Islam, they flew the jetliners into the world trade center buildings. They were not “true” Muslims; they simply “hijacked” Islam to carry out their wicked purposes. Some of our Muslim neighbors may say that the term, Islam itself means peace through submission, and on this bases say that Islam is a peaceful religion and does not promote the senseless, violent, and murderous acts that have been committed by some of the worlds most notorious Muslims. When listening to what Muslims are saying about Jihad in their own countries, and comparing it with what Muslims in the west are saying; there seems to be a contradiction. So how are we to answer the question: what is the true meaning of Jihad? The only way to get to the true meaning of the term Jihad is to consult the dictionaries; the encyclopedias; the hadith, and the Quran to understand the true meaning of the word, Jihad. What we must bear in mind is that, it is irrelevant what a Muslim’s personal conviction may be concerning this question. We must go to the sources of the religion of Islam, and the testimony of Muhammad himself to see what is meant by the term, Jihad. First, I think it necessary to look at a few dictionaries on the meaning of, Jihad.                                                                       

    According to the Random House Webster’s College Dictionary, p. 727 the term, Jihad is defined as: A holy war undertaken as a sacred duty by Muslims.

Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, p. 1216: A holy war waged on the behalf of Islam as a religious duty; a bitter strife or crusade undertaken in the spirit of holy war.

Webster’s New Twentieth Century Dictionary, p. 1336: A religious war against infidels or Mohammedan heretics.

Universal Dictionary of the English Language, p. 631: “Contest, war”- A Mohammedan war against unbelievers, campaign against the enemies of Islam.

The American College Dictionary, p. 657: A war of Mohammedans upon others, with a religious object.

The Oxford Dictionary, p. 583: [struggle, contest, spec. one for the propagation of Islam.] A religious war of Mohammedans against unbelievers in Islam, inculcated as a duty by the Koran and traditions.

 

    As we can see from these references, Jihad means a Muslim holy war against everyone that isn’t a fellow Muslim. This would also include those who were Muslim, but have turned from the religion of Islam. Consequently, the orthodox Muslim world view is in two distinct categories: 1. the house of Islam (Dar Al-Islam), and secondly, the house of war (Dar Al-Harb). As long as the house of war, or rather all non-muslim peoples and nations are in existence, the Jihad must continue until all have been subjugated to the religion of Islam. The Christian message of Jesus Christ and him crucified is to be propagated by preaching, and the convicting power of the Holy Ghost. Islam is to be primarily spread through war, conquest, coercion, and deceit. This has always been the case in the advancement of Islam and this has not changed in 1,400 yrs since the inception of Muhammad’s religion. This is still a mandatory religious requirement of all who profess faith in Islam whenever, and where ever they can perform it. The crusades lasted about 200 yrs but the Muslim Jihad has been an ongoing endeavor for 1,400 yrs. This is the danger the whole world faces in the 21^st. century. In an age of nuclear technology, germ and bio-chemical technology, the whole world should know of the danger, and true nature of Islam and of the doctrine of Jihad. Unfortunately, the president of the United States of America is either unaware or deceptive when he makes statements concerning Islam being a religion of peace. Islam has proven in history to be a religion of “peace” only when it is in the minority. But it is always true that when a religion becomes dominate, its true nature is revealed for what it truly is. This is no different when it comes to the religion of Islam. Radical Muslims are using our freedoms such as the freedom of speech; the freedom of assembly; the freedom of the press, etc. to produce and distribute their publications, books, tapes, and videos on a world-wide scale. I believe a quote from S.A.A Maududi would be in order: “Islam wishes to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam. Islam requires the earth-not just a portion but the whole planet.” And that God’s law (shariah) should be enforced in the world by “force of arms.” Truth can not be confined within geographical borders. “The allegiance of a Muslim does not rest on his domicile in the country which is his, but on the faith to which he belongs. . .” (Jihad in Islam, Lahore 1991) Now that we have look at a few references from the dictionaries, let us consult the encyclopedias.

 

  Collier’s Encyclopedia, vol. 13, p. 587: Jihad, from an Arabic verb meaning to struggle and persevere, denotes, in the history of Islamic civilization, religious war waged against heretics, unbelievers, and the enemies of the state or the community of Muslims. In early Islamic history “Jihad” meant holy war, and, as a strictly Islamic phenomenon, it bears a strict relation to the spread of the faith by Muslims’ arms. It was a duty to the Kharijits, a band of warlike rebels, and Jihad was considered an obligation of command; and by them it was ranked as a sixth pillar of religion.

The Encyclopedia Americana International Edition, vol. 16, pgs. 91-92: Jihad, an Arabic word meaning “struggle”. As a religious duty theoretically laid upon all followers of Mohammed, Jihad is based on the concept that the Islamic faith, since it is of universal validity, must be spread to all mankind, by force of arms if necessary. In classical Islam, Jihad was to be directed against “people of the book” (that is, possessors of authoritative sacred writings, above all Jews and Christians) until they submit to the political authority of Islam, and against idolaters until they became Muslims. Sufi mystics, however, often considered Jihad as a spiritual struggle against the evil within the self.

The Cambridge Encyclopedia, p. 637: Jihad- the term used in Islam for “holy war” According to the Koran, Muslims have a duty to oppose those who reject Islam, by armed struggle if necessary, and Jihad has been invoked to justify both the expansion and defense of Islam. Islamic states pledged a Jihad against Israel in the Mecca declaration of 1981, though not necessarily by military attack.

Academic American Encyclopedia, p. 418: In Islam, the duty of each Muslim to spread his religious beliefs is termed “Jihad” Although the word is widely understood to mean a “holy war” against unbelievers, Jihad may also be fulfilled by a personal battle against evil inclinations, the righting of wrongs, and the supporting of what is good.

The concise encyclopedia of Islam, p. 209: Jihad “holy war”, a divine institution of warfare to extend Islam into the dar-al-harb (the non-Islamic territories which are described as the “abode of struggle” or of unbelief) or to defend Islam from danger. Adult males must to participate if the need arises, but not all of them, provided that a “sufficient number” (fard al-kifayah) take it up.

 

    According to these few references and others that can be sited, we can readily see that the Islamic Jihad is the greatest military threat to date. Just two decades ago, America was so afraid of the spread of communism, and the potential outcome of the so-called nuclear arms race. But it should be evident that it wasn’t what was then the U.S.S.R (now Russia) that posed the greatest threat to western civilization, but it would seem that the Islamic Jihad is the “goliath” of our times; one of the last of the giants. Make no mistake about it; Islam has its sights trained primarily on two nations presently: America and Israel. These are the two nations that must fall in order for Islam to achieve its objective of world domination. Islam presents a docile image when it is not the dominate religion, but as soon as it gains dominance, it begins to reveal its true nature. The resident nations near, and around Arabia after the death of Muhammad in 632, learned first hand how ferocious and merciless the Muslim armies could be. Persia (Iran), Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Armenia, etc. from the year 637 A.D. to 644 A.D. all conquered by the second caliph Omar. The Islamic Jihad spread from Arabia across all of North Africa westward, and from the Arabian Peninsula to central Asia with a large portion of India falling under the sword of Islam. The Muslim armies also conquered Spain and Portugal, and then from there invaded France conquering, and pillaging a large portion of that country. Had it not been for the defeat at the battle of tours (Poitiers) in 732 by Charles Martel, Europe would have been devoured by the religion of Islam, and world history as we know it would be quit different than we have it today. The day may very well come when we could see a nuclear mushroom-cloud over an American city. I pray that the Lord God would give us more time for an awakening in the church to our own need for repentance and cleansing. Maybe then we can see a move of the Spirit of God in the Islamic community that will sweep thousands, and perhaps millions into the kingdom of our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

 

   Now let us look at several verses in the Qu’ran to see whether or not the Muslim’s holy book teaches Jihad. The thing to keep in mind is that the Qu’ran was allegedly revealed in two historical contexts. The first set of surahs (chapters) was revealed in Mecca. The second set of surahs was revealed in Yathrib, or what is now called, Medina. The first set is the surahs that Mohammed received when he was a resident of the city of Mecca. Mohammed started small with only a handful of converts to his cause. At this time he was conciliatory to the Jews and the Christians; even referring to them as “the people of the book.” But after he began preaching his religion that there is no god but Allah and that he was his messenger, the residents of Mecca became incensed at his attacks on their worship of idols. This may seem to make Mohammed appear like the true prophets of the Bible, But what we should understand is that the “Allah” he preached was the chief meccan deity; the moon-god Hubal. This Allah (Hubal) had three daughters: Allat, Al-Uzza, and Manat. This means that Islam is still a pagan religion to the core. In the year 622, Mohammed fled to the city of Medina were he and his few followers were warmly received. It was at Medina that his attitude towards the Jews and Christians began to change. Not only did his attitude change toward the Jews in particular and the Christians, but his supposed revelations took on a different tone than when he was at Mecca. In the city of Medina, Mohammed was able to win more converts and sympathizers to his cause. In fact, so many began to embrace Islam that Mohammed was able to create a formidable army. No longer were the Jews and the Christians referred to as “the people of the book” but now they were called, “Kafirs” (infidels, unbelievers). It is in these new surahs from Medina that we find some of the most violent statements known to humanity. These surahs did not contain the seeming docility demonstrated by Mohammed when at Mecca. Remember, in Mecca Mohammed was small and could not pose a military threat to the inhabitants. It is the surahs from Medina that are presently in force today, and this is why we see some of the most murderous act committed by Muslims. None of the surahs received in Mecca are in force today; they have all been replaced (abrogated) by the Medinian surahs that are violent and intolerable. Jihad is still in force today as it has always been, and when the number in the Islamic community reaches a certain percentage, the attitude and disposition of many in the Islamic community will began to take on a new tone. Islam has proven itself to be anything but a “peaceful” religion. No Muslim can justly deny 1,400 yrs of bloodshed, murder, and mayhem unleashed upon the world by the disciples of Muhammad, and his god, Allah. There is also what is called, the Jihad of the pen, and the Jihad of the heart. The Jihad of the pen is the writing of books; the writing of Articles; the public speeches, and video recordings all promoting Islam as the true religion. The Jihad of the pen also includes the participation in public debates with leaders of the Jewish and Christian communities. The Jihad of the heart is the personal struggle of the Muslim to resist temptation such as not eating pork; not drinking alcoholic beverages, etc.

 

   Let us now turn to the Qu’ran (the Muslim holy book) to see if it proscribes violent, murderous acts against Jews, Christians, and Idolaters. Let us now look at some passages that are dear, and near to the hearts of our Muslim neighbors.

   Surah 9: 5-6: “And when the sacred months are passed, kill those who join other gods with Allah wherever ye shall find them; and seize them, besiege them, and lay wait for them with every kind of ambush: but if they shall convert, and observe prayer, and pay the obligatory alms (jizyah), then let them go their way, for Allah is gracious, merciful. If any one of those who join gods with Allah asks an asylum of thee, grant him an asylum that he may hear the word of Allah, and let him reach his place of safety. This, for that they are people devoid of knowledge.”

  Surah 9:29: “Make war upon such of those to whom the scriptures have been given as believe not in Allah, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which Allah and his apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the truth, until they pay tribute (jizyah) out of hand, and they be humbled.”

  Surah 8:39: “Say to the infidels: If they desist from their unbelief, what is now past shall be forgiven them; but if they return to it, they have already before them the doom of the ancients! Fight then against them till strife be at an end, and the religion be all of it Allah’s.”

  Surah 4:74: “Let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah, whether he is slain or gets victory- soon shall we give him a reward of great (value).”    

  Surah 8:34: “Then fight in Allah’s cause- thou art held responsible only for thyself-and rouse the believers. It may be that Allah will restrain the fury of the unbelievers; for Allah is strongest in might and in punishment.”

  Surah 8:65: “O prophet, rouse the believers to fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.”

  Surah 9:14: “Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, and disgrace them, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breast of the believers.”

  Surah 9:123: “O ye who believe! Fight the unbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear him.”

  Surah 9:111: “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the gardens (of paradise): they fight in his cause, and slay and are slain: a promise biding on him in truth, through the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qu’ran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.” (Notice: this surah is 9.11.1)  

 

     These are just a few verses from the Qu’ran that clearly reveal that fighting and killing is a major tenant of the Islamic faith. It would seem that the higher the body-count, the more Allah is glorified. According to the Qu’ran, the Muslims who perform acts of murder and violence against those who do not believe in Islam are only following what Allah and his apostle prescribed. It is inculcated upon all who call themselves Muslim to wage Jihad in the name of Allah. Those who call themselves Muslim, who disagree, should stop lying to themselves and to everybody else about the true nature of what is called the second largest religion on the face of the planet. The real challenge the world faces both militarily and more importantly, spiritually, is the Islamic Jihad from the Islamic world. Another fact relevant to this topic concerns every country near and around the Arabian Peninsula. All of the countries of North Africa; the middle-eastern and central Asian (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, etc.) are presently Islamic countries.  All of these countries became Islamic do to the doctrine of Jihad. Had it not been for the doctrine of Jihad, Islam would have died out in the obscurity in which it arose. We would not know who this seventh century, Arabian Bedouin was or his religion. Not one single country outside Arabia became an Islamic state willingly, but had to be conquered by means of Jihad, or as it is called, holy war. Islam speaks to us from history with two hands dripping in cold blood, and is unapologetic with no intentions of stopping. At this moment, Satan is using the religion of Islam in the U.K. with great success while the Church appears to be comatose or plain dead in the U.K. Mosques are everywhere in this country (U.K.) This country has given the world some of the greatest preachers, and greatest awakenings of the last four century. And now the Muslims are boasting in some circles that the U.K. will be the first of the western nations that will fall to Islam and its god, Allah.

 

    Let us now look at a few sayings from the Hadith on the subject of Jihad, or what some call, holy war. The Hadith or the authentic traditions are the second in authority to the Qu’ran. The Hadith such as Sahih Al-Bukari are considered to be a second inspiration. These recorded traditions are essential to Islam, because they record the life and sayings of Mohammed and his companions. Muslims consider the lifestyle and behavior of Mohammed to be an inspired, practical application of the teachings found in the Qu’ran. What ever Mohammed and his companions did, and said is considered to be revelatory.  Many of the deeds and sayings of Mohammed and his companions that are recorded in the Hadiths are not recorded in the Qu’ran. This is why to understand and follow the teachings of the Islamic faith, one must not only read the Qu’ran, but a mandatory reading of the Hadith (pl. Ahadith) is required. The Qu’ran would be unintelligible on its own with out the guidance, and the support of the Hadith. As a matter of fact; everything that is said of the Qu’ran such as who, what, when, where, and how of the Qu’ran are founded on the report of the Hadith. In fact there are many Imams, and Mullahs who believe that a Muslim’s rejection of the Hadith is blasphemy and the Muslim must repent, or be killed.

 

   In Sahih Al-Bukari vol. 2, book 26, num.594: “The prophet was once asked: ‘What is the best deed for the Muslim next to believing in Allah and his messenger?’ his answer was: ‘To participate in Jihad in Allah’s cause.’

  Sahih Al-Bukari 4:196 we read, “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say, ‘None has the right to be worship but Allah.’

  Sahih Al-Bukari 1 p. 13, “I have been ordered by Allah to fight with people till they bear testimony to the fact that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger, and that they establish prayer and pay Zakat (mandatory alms). If they do it, their blood and their property are safe from me.”

  Sahih Al-Bukari 5:396 we read, “Allah’s apostle said, “Who is willing to kill Ka’b bin al-ashraf who has hurt Allah and his apostle?” Thereupon Mohammed bin Maslama got up saying, “O Allah’s apostle! Would you like that I kill him?” The prophet said, “Yes,” Mohammed bin Maslama said, “Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Ka’b).” The prophet said, “You may say it.”

  Sahih Al-Bukari 4: 264 says, “Allah’s apostle sent a group of Ansari men to kill Abu-Rafi. One of them set out and entered there (i.e. the enemies) fort. That man said, “I hid myself in a stable for their animals. They close the fort gate. Later they lost a donkey of theirs, so they went out in its search. I, too, went out with them, pretending to look for it. They found their donkey and entered their fort. And I, too, entered along with them. They closed the fort of the gate at night, and kept its keys in a small window where I could see them. When those people slept, I took the keys and opened the gate and came upon Abu-Rafi and said, ‘O Abu-Rafi. When he replied me, I proceeded towards the voice and hit him. He shouted and I came out to come back, and pretended to be a helper. I said, ‘O Abu-Rafi, changing the tone of my voice. He asked me, ‘what do you want; woe to your mother?’ I asked him, ‘what has happened to you?’ He said, ‘I don’t know who came to me and hit me.’ Then I drove my sword into his belly and pushed it forcibly until I touched the bone.

  Sahih Al-Bukari vol. 4, book 52, num.42: I heard Allah’s apostle saying, “The example of the Mujahid in Allah’s cause—and Allah knows better who really strives in his cause---is like a person that fasts and prays continually. Allah guarantees that he will admit the Mujahid in his cause into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise he will return him to his home safely with rewards and war booty.”

  Sahih Al-Bukari vol. 4, book 52, num.73: Allah’s apostle said, “Know that Paradise is under the shades of swords.”

 

  It is quite clear what the term Jihad means according to the Qu’ran; the Hadith; the dictionaries, and the encyclopedias. The true meaning of Jihad reveals to us the nature and intent of Satan when it comes to this religion and all religions. Satan seeks to kill, to steal, and to destroy the souls of men. Any precious Muslim who says that Islam doesn’t proscribe killing in the name of Allah to further it’s purposes, or that Jihad only means a personal struggle in the heart against temptation, is simply uninformed about the religion he adheres to, or he is being deceptive in an attempt to hide the true nature of what some call the second larges religion on the planet. The motivation behind those who participate in Jihad is the promise of immediate access into Paradise if they are killed in Jihad. In the religion of Islam, there is no assurance of salvation; no real peace with the one they call Allah. The only guarantee of entrance into Paradise is for the one who participates in Jihad, or if one is killed in an attempt to wage Jihad. Many Muslims shutter at the though of what will become of them in hereafter. Even Mohammed himself could not answer in the affirmative as to what Allah would do with him in the hereafter. The sad truth is that Mohammed is in Hell, and all those who follow the religion of Islam will go to the same destruction. This is Satan’s ultimate goal for all whether they are religious or not. But Jesus Christ came to give us life and that more abundant.

  The answer to the Muslim question is in the true Church. The answer is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Only it can change an Osama bin laden, or a Saddam Hussein, or a Mohammed from the heart. This gospel came not in word only but in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance. It is much more powerful than the lie of Islam, and it demolishes carnal reasoning, and worldly arguments. The gospel stops all mouths so that the entire world may become guilty before God. This is what our Muslims neighbors need; this is what the whole world needs, and this is the only way by which men and women can be justified before a Holy and a Righteous God. God’s call to the Muslim is not to confess the Shahada (There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is the messenger of Allah), but to confess and repent of his sins. All of the good works that are proscribed in the religion of Islam can never save from sin. The true God of the Bible doesn’t save us according to our good works as proscribed in the religions of the world including the religion of Islam. He saves men according to his mercy by the washing of regeneration, and the renewing of the Holy Ghost, that he poured out abundantly through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, when we are justified by his blood; we shall not only be saved from wrath, but we shall be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life which in Christ Jesus. This is my pray and desire for our Muslim neighbors is that they may find true life eternal and peace with the true and living God, and our Savoir the Lord Jesus. The wages of sin is death (in Hell) but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Repent, and believe the gospel!!

 

 

A list of some of the terrorist cells now residing in America

 

  While the nation has been made to believe we are safer because of our invasion of Iraq; there are some of us who refuse to let the White House stifle our thinking. Just in case you are wondering, we are no safer now than before the war in Iraq. The real problem is not Saddam, or even Osama bin laden; the problem we face is an ideology of death. It is futile to think that a removal of a dictator we created in the first place will make us safer. The so-called “war on terrorist” should start hear on American soil, and it should stay here until all of the terrorist cells in this country are exterminated, including the Bush Administration. Until the White House (The  Bush Administration) gets serious about really protecting America, and not it’s own interest; it will be only a matter of time before another major attack, maybe more destructive than 9/11. It is my opinion that it is not the desire of this present administration to hunt down all terrorist so as to eliminate the threat altogether. There needs to be an element of fear and concern in order to control the citizens of this country, and to implement governmental programs (Homeland Security; The Patriot Act, etc) that are said to be for our “protection” but in reality for the policing of American citizens. One of the elements needed to control the multitudes is a spirit of fear, real or imaginary. I believe that the America as we know it will change so dramatically that it will look nothing like the nation we once knew, and nothing like the founding intentions of the Fathers of this republic. Does the phrase, “police state” trouble you? Maybe it should trouble all of us, because it would seem that this is the direction that we are headed.

   The terrorist are amongst us, and at an appointed time they will be activated to do what Jihadist do best; murder, maim, pillage, rape, steal, enslave, abuse, etc. all in the name of Allah and his apostle. This is the only real Jihad that there is. There is no record that Mohammed ever demonstrated any other kind of Jihad, such as the Jihad of the pen, or the Jihad of the heart. The only Jihad he performed was the Jihad of the sword. Islam’s ultimate purpose is to rule the whole world, and devour all those who oppose the religion of Allah. “The Jihad, the fighting, is obligatory on you wherever you can perform it. And just as when you are in America you must fast---unless you are ill or on a voyage---so, too, must you wage Jihad. The word Jihad means fighting only, fighting with the sword.”  (Abdullah Azzam, Oklahoma City, 1988)

    What these groups here in the United States should say to us loud and clear is that we are no safer than before 9/11. And now with the opening up of the borders dividing the United States from Mexico, it is even more unsecured than ever before. The Bush Administration just made it much easier to transport weapons, bombs, and whatever else the Jihadist may need to carry out their destructive desires. Is this what the administration really desire is to allow the terrorist to come in to create certain conditions for their own agenda to be implemented? To install programs that would normally be rejected under normal circumstances, but under a cloud of fear welcomed with open arms? If this is the truth then our own government especially the executive branch is just as much a terror to the American people as the Muslim Jihadist. For the true Church we need not fear. God is our refuge, not the White House or the armed forces of the United States. Some may trust in horses, some may trust in chariots, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. He it is who has deliverance for his people and our times are in his hands. And the message of the gospel of his Son is the very power by which men and women are saved. Let this be our prayer for our Muslim friends, and neighbors to know the true God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent, for this is the true eternal life, and this life is in his only begotten Son.
